Curio Co. • for accounting, bookkeeping, law, and agency firms

Make room for more clients without hiring.

Tax season is coming, a key person is about to leave, or you want to take on more clients without adding staff. Your team may be using ChatGPT already, and the week still feels as full as ever.

Curio Co. is operations consulting for professional firms. We learn how client work moves through your firm, from intake to review to delivery, and we fix where it stalls. We automate only the steps where automation really saves time.

    I

    What changes

    • Client intake collects the right documents the first time, so your staff stop chasing missing paperwork.
    • “How we do things here” is written down, so new hires get up to speed without pulling you off billable work.
    • A short weekly view shows where every client's work stands, so you are no longer the only one who knows.

What this looks like in practice

Six moments from a normal week. For each: how it usually goes, and how it goes once the process is written down and the right steps run themselves.

The inquiry that arrives at 9pm

TodayA question lands by email or voicemail after close. Someone opens it the next afternoon, and by then the person has already called two other firms.

With the right systemEvery inquiry gets an immediate reply that asks the right questions and offers a time to talk. You start the day with a short list of who is worth your time.

    Chasing the documents

TodayA filing waits on three documents nobody has sent. Your staff spend the week re-sending the same list and marking the same names.

With the right systemIntake asks for exactly what that engagement needs, in order, with dates attached. Missing items come due on a schedule, so your staff write the reminder once instead of three times.

Work that arrives as a PDF

TodayStatements, receipts, and contracts come in as scans. Someone retypes the figures or keys them twice, and the error still shows up later.

With the right systemDocuments are read and pulled into the systems you already use, sorted by client and date. A person checks the numbers that carry risk before anything is filed.

    The engagement letter

TodayEach letter starts from last year's file, then sits waiting on a conflict check, a signature, or one changed term.

With the right systemTerms come from a current template built from your own practice, the conflict check runs before it goes out, and the signature returns on its own. You approve the language, not the busywork.

    Where everything stands

TodayYou are the only one who knows what is close to done and what has quietly slipped. Checking means opening every client's file.

With the right systemA short weekly view shows each client's stage, the next action, and what is waiting on someone. You see the jam before it turns into a missed deadline.

    The same questions, all week

Today“Where are we on this?” and “Do you need anything from me?” arrive all day and interrupt whoever is closest.

With the right systemClients get a scheduled update before they think to ask, and the common questions have written answers your team can send in one click.

We'll teach you how to set these processes up and maintain them.

    How we work

    • Confidential client files stay in your systems. We do not paste client work into public AI tools. We work inside your engagement letters and confidentiality obligations. You confirm what they allow.
    • Before we change anything, we write down what the bottleneck costs you now, in hours and in work you turn away. Then we check back on a date we set together.
    • We write down what is distinctly yours: review, judgment calls, and anything that carries your name. That is the boundary. A person still checks the work.
    • We start with the software you already have. If staff are already using AI tools, we find them first and decide together what to keep, replace, or stop.
    • Nothing we build is left without an owner. Every procedure and automation gets a named person on your team and a simple review rhythm, so it still works next season.
    • The person who studies your work builds it and stays until your team is using it. If your team would be better off building something yourselves, we will say so.

The first step is a thirty-minute conversation. You describe a normal week, and we tell you what we would change first, including the parts you may not want to hear.
